AC/DC are one of the most successful rock bands of all time, selling over 200 million albums worldwide and writing immortal rock riffs on singles like “Back in Black,” “Highway to Hell” and “Thunderstruck.” Formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young in Sydney, Australia, AC/DC released their debut album High Voltage internationally in 1976. While early cuts like “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll)” and “T.N.T.” would eventually become rock staples, AC/DC truly broke out with 1979’s Highway to Hell. AC/DC brought in lead vocalist Brian Johnson for 1980’s Back in Black, which went on to sell over 27 million copies to become the third-best-selling album in the United States. The band’s 1981 follow-up For Those About to Rock We Salute You netted them the first of three career No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, along with 2008’s Black Ice and 2020’s Power Up. AC/DC have also notched seven Billboard Hot 100 singles, peaking with “Moneytalks” from 1990’s The Razors Edge. In 2003, AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the band won their first Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2010.
