Reprise RecordsGreen Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and singer/songwriter Norah Jones are sharing another cut from Foreverly, an Everly Brothers tribute album that features the pair covering all the songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s second album, 1958’s Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.
After posting a preview of “Long Time Gone,” the duo is now offering up a stream of the single “Silver Haired Daddy of Mine,” which you can hear at RollingStone.com.
Songs Our Daddy Taught Us features a number of traditional folk songs and blues tunes, which Armstrong hopes will resonate with a new audience. “I liked the whole concept that this was something taught to them, and now it’s being taught to me,” he tells the magazine. “I thought it would be cool to pass the tradition one more time.”
Foreverly will arrive at all the usual outlets on November 25.
